Baby Nursery

Jason and I have been so excited to get the baby nursery all set up. We wanted to wait until after both of the baby showers, but we couldn't! We went ahead and ordered all of the crib bedding and some matching decor. Then we realized that we really needed the crib and crib mattress for the bedding to go on, so we bought those too! We set the crib up yesterday and not only is it gorgeous, but it was a snap! It definitely wasn't as much of an IQ test as I think the car seat might turn out to be. The only weird thing about the crib was a tag on the side reading, "The minimum age of the intended user shall not be less than 15 months." Does that mean we can't put her in it until she is over a year old? I guess it's a good thing we planned on getting a bassinet.

We won't get the crib bedding and decor until Thursday, but even just having the crib makes everything more real. I can't believe we're so close!

Week 31 Ultrasound

I went in last week for my monthly ultrasound. Mireya is right on track with her growth. She is weighing in at 3 pounds 6 ounces! One of the first things out of the ultrasound tech's mouth was, "She's right in position, smashing your bladder." Tell me about it! Who knew a little 3 pound baby could have such a heavy head...

I was able to bring Nana to the ultrasound this time. We not only got to see little Mireya in 2D, but in 3D also! The ultrasound tech took lots of photos of her little face in 3D. I think she may have my nose and Jason's chin, but we'll have to see. I've already posted all the ultrasound photos, they're amazing!

She still refuses to stay still. She doesn't seem to like all the poking and prodding. At one point she wouldn't move her hand away from her face, so the ultrasound tech jiggled my belly all over to get her to change positions. It worked and thankfully we were able to get some great photos!

I start my NST's at 32 weeks. I'm really grateful for those, because it will provide me with peace of mind once a week from now until delivery. I'm still having occasional contractions and some days I can't even get up and walk around without triggering one. I know that's one of the things they monitor. I have no intention of having this baby too early. You hear that baby girl, you need to hang out in there for at least another month or so! It won't be too much longer before we meet!

Week 27 Ultrasound

I went in the other day for my week 27 ultrasound. The ultrasound tech measured everything twice. She measured Mireya's head and compared that to her abdomen, her thigh bone, the fluid in several different places, my cervix, etc. Every single thing measured perfectly! Mireya is growing right on schedule. The doctor also checked cord blood flow, which is great. The placenta and cord aren't showing any signs of clotting. Thank you Lovenox!

The best part of the ultrasound experience is seeing Mireya. She is so beautiful! She still isn't very cooperative though. They wanted to take a 3D picture of her face, but she wouldn't hold still long enough. She also kept getting the hiccups. My favorite part of the whole thing was watching her little mouth. She kept opening and closing it like a little fish. It was amazing! I also loved seeing her open and close her little hand. She would stick it right up by her face and open it like she was waving. She even gave us a thumbs up at one point. I can't wait to hold those little hands when she gets here.

I'm getting the hang of this...

It only took me over 5 months, but I think I'm finally getting used to being pregnant. Most of my days are pretty much the same. They consist of me feeling exhausted and nauseated, taking lots of Zofran, getting a shot in my stomach, eating breakfast, two lunches, two dinners, and lots of snacks in between, and the occasional episode of gagging and vomiting. Oh, and lots of trips to the bathroom as the baby uses my bladder as a punching bag. Most of my excitement with the pregnancy comes from feeling the baby move and kick, seeing her on the ultrasounds, and looking at baby stuff online. Who knew that someone could actually get used to all this and enjoy it? I never thought I would, but I am. I'm slowly, VERY SLOWLY, beginning to understand how women can have more than one baby. By the time my baby girl is actually here, I may *gasp* actually consider going through this again in a few years. Oh no, now I'm overwhelmed at the very thought of it. I need a nap...

Week 22 Ultrasound

I went to the doctor yesterday. He did an ultrasound and Mireya is measuring perfectly! They took measurements on her abdomen, her head, her heart, the amniotic fluid levels, everything. They even estimated her weight at 1 pound 1 ounce! It was amazing to see how much she's grown in one month. Her little nose is more defined and her legs and arms are longer. The ultrasound tech even made a comment that she thinks she might have really long legs. When they were looking at her heart you could actually see all four chambers! I couldn't believe how detailed it looked and to watch it pump from the inside was incredible! Now, I've added all five photos they took to the Ultrasound Photos page, so check them out! "Morning" Sickness

Why do they call it morning sickness? I feel nauseated ALL DAY LONG. Everyone says that you are supposed to feel better after the third month, because your hormones level out. Why then am I still experiencing nausea and vomiting in my fifth month? I've even learned how many different ways there are to vomit and Jason runs for cover the minute I start to gag. Mireya, when you get older and you read this, you should know what I went through for you. I love you VERY much and I can't wait until you get here, but in the mean time I feel awful. Grow fast baby girl!

Dual Weight Gain

I have been keeping close track of how much weight I'm gaining during this pregnancy. I started off by losing 5 pounds, because of all the nausea. Since then, about month number three, I've put back on the 5 pounds plus an additional 10 pounds. I figure that is just about perfect. Jason noticed his pants were getting a little tighter, so he weighed himself too. Turns out, I'm not the only one who has put on 10 pounds! Poor Jason. He is quite upset about it and I've tried explaining to him that most husbands of expectant wives gain weight. What does he expect really when he eats exactly what I eat? It looks like we are both going to have to find the time to join a gym after Mireya is born. Good luck to us...
