She Bit Me!

Tonight, I had a first. I was changing Mireya into her pajamas and she was being less than cooperative. I had her standing up as I finished doing up her snaps, when out of nowhere, she bit me on the shoulder...hard! I let out a yell and Lane came to check it out. Instantly, you could tell that Mireya felt sorry and wanted me to hold her. For the rest of the evening, she kept snuggling up to me and wanting to be with me. Right as we were putting her to bed, she did the cutest thing. She kissed my shoulder, the one that she had bitten, and then poked it and said "owie." You could tell that she felt really bad for it, which is an awesome development - her knowing that she caused me pain and that that wasn't okay, and that she was sorry for it.

Could She Get Any Smarter!?

As all of you that read my posts know, I ADORE Mireya. I am always saying how cute she is and how much I love her. I have probably bragged about how she is the best baby ever nine hundred times, but it's TRUE! Just when I think that she really can't get any more amazing and adorable, she does.

I really need to get some new videos up of her talking. She says a lot of words that other toddlers say, but it's the way Mireya says them that makes them so incredibly cute. In my last post I mentioned that Mireya says "NO" a lot more. She says it with this little sassy attitude, which almost always makes me laugh. My favorite right now though, has to be what she calls bunnies. They are currently her favorite thing in the entire world and the few stuffed bunnies she has, she takes with her everywhere. She sees a bunny, points to it and says, "BUN!" She says it with so much enthusiasm. "Mama, BUN!" Not bunny, just bun.

Mireya has finally learned how to climb onto things. Jason and I have done our best to prolong that specific milestone, because it just opens up a whole new can of worms and challenges for us. Mireya, of course, couldn't be more excited. Now she can climb up onto the couches whenever she wants, he can try to climb up our cat castle thing, she tries to climb everything now. There are two major problems with that. One, she can now reach even more things that she shouldn't be playing with, and two, she doesn't get the danger of falling off of something. She keeps trying to jump off the couches and she is oblivious to the fact that she will get hurt if she does.

Mireya has gotten really good at drinking out of a cup. She still spills one out of every five glasses, but heck, so do I. :) However, she now wants to have a drink out of every glass she sees. I remember how she stole other people's lemonades at her friends birthday party. Today, she got a hold of my coffee. No, she didn't drink any, she just spilled it all over me and the couch.

At least her potty training is going pretty well. She still doesn't really ask to go potty, we just have to catch her in the act, but it's getting better. I am so happy that it isn't as hard as I thought it was going to be. It's still frustrating sometimes, but it's not too bad.

Mireya surprises me all the time. I took her for a walk down to get the mail the other day and I let her hold my keys on the way back. We got back to the front door and she tried to stick a key in the lock! She has been paying attention when I do it, I guess. After we got inside she ran into the kitchen and started to throw a fit. I was like, "What? What's wrong? Why are you freaking out?" I asked if she was hungry and got an emphatic, "NO" and then she yelled, "DEESHES! DEESHES!" I couldn't believe it, but my one and a half year old was asking me if she could do the dishes. Sure enough, when I opened the dishwasher, she jumped up and down and yelled, "YAY! DEESHES!" I can only hope her enthusiasm for doing dishes lasts through her teenage years.

Now can you honestly tell me that this isn't the face of the cutest kid ever? She's marvelous and boy does she LOVE her dark chocolate!

The Word "NO"

Well, it’s happened. Mireya learned to say “no” several months ago, but she never said it more than once or twice until now. She has figured out that she can say, “No Mama!” whenever she doesn’t want to do something.

Me: “Ok Mookie. It’s time for a nap.”

Her: “NO Mama! NO!” *she shakes her head back and forth like crazy*

Me: “Yes honey. Right now please.”

Her: “NNOOO! NO Mama, NO!”

Me: “Yes. End of discussion. Come on…..”

Her: *while running away as fast as she can…* “NO NO NO! NO!”

I end up shaking my head and longing for the days when she would just look at me and make baby noises. What’s next? Crawling out of her crib after I put her to bed? I can’t wait….

Getting ready for my daughter's first day of school

I knew that this day was coming for a long time, but I'm not entirely ready to send my daughter off on her first day of school. I guess that it's something that's never going to be easy for parents, but we all have to go through it. So I'm kind of prepping myself for it and making sure that she's not too nervous about everything.

But she's pretty good at being sociable and making friends so I'm really not all that worried about her. It really is me that I'm most worried about. I was looking online to try and find some tips about how to handle this better and while I was doing that, I ran across the website Clear-INTERNET.com. After I looked through it a little bit, I decided to change over our home internet service to it.

I know that her first day of school is going opt be really great for my daughter and that I'll get through it. I'll have to worry about her first day of middle school, high school and then college.

Teeth, Teeth and More Teeth!

Holy cow! Mireya wandered over and started to eat our glass computer desks this morning. She was clearly trying to relieve the pain in her gums. I looked in her mouth and her top molars haven't quite finished coming in yet. Guess what else? Her canine teeth have started to poke through the gums already! Poor Mookie isn't going to get that break from teething that I was hoping for.

That was just the beginning. Mireya has colored on so many things, so many times, that I am ready to toss all the crayons out the window! Here are a few more of her abstract art pieces:

You should've seen the time she colored on the top of the toilet. That was quite spectacular. Ooh... the time she drew all over the couch was great too. I have even seen her attempt to color on the kitty. Thankfully you can't color fur or we'd have a pink cat. The best news of all? Nana just got her markers. Thanks Nana! She is really enjoying coloring with them, but be forewarned if she ever colors on something she isn't supposed too, you can bet that we will show up on your doorstep so we can color at your house.
